First Company manufactured vertical terminal units under their own SPX brand as well as for Amana, who sold the same product line as the VTC (cooling + electric heat) and VTH (heat pump) series. Both product lines share the same wall sleeve dimensions and closet footprint, making the Multi Mfg SPV-HP series a direct drop-in replacement for either brand.

Where the original units used fixed-speed compressors, the Multi Mfg SPV-HP uses an inverter-driven variable-speed compressor that modulates output to match the actual load - delivering significantly higher efficiency, lower sound levels, and more precise temperature control. The 12SPV and 1824SPV series are both Cold Climate Energy Star certified, with the 12SPV rated at 10.5 EER2 / 17.1 SEER2 / 8.6 HSPF2 and the 1824SPV rated at 9.8 EER2 / 15.5 SEER2 / 9.1 HSPF2. The 9SPV series does not carry Cold Climate Energy Star certification.

The Multi Mfg SPV-HP is also compatible with most existing 2-stage wall thermostats, so in many cases you can keep the thermostat already installed in the room. This makes the transition even simpler for property managers looking to upgrade units across multiple rooms or floors.
