The Titan Pro TOC5 Capacitor is a motor run capacitor. A capacitor is a component that stores electrical energy for you motor to operate. The capacitance or storage is reported in microfarads (uF or mFd).
There are three types of capacitors - start, run and dual run. A start capacitor only runs while your unit is starting and shuts off immediately. Run capacitors are single run or a dual run. A dual run capacitor is most frequently used in air conditioners. It incorporates the functions of 2 run capacitors. It will support both the compressor fan motor and condenser and will have 2 MFD ratings. A run capacitor will have 2 terminal banks on top while a dual run capacitor typically has 3 terminal banks. Run capacitors are typically round, but can be oval as well.
As the name implies, a run capacitor runs constantly, providing constant voltage and current adjustments to the motor. The shape is not as important as the capacitor specifications fulfilling your requirements needed AND fitting in the space!
The TOC5 is an oval capacitor and will provide:
- Up to 60,000 hours of operational life
- 5 mFd
- 370/440 Voltage
- Built to EIA-456-A and IEC 60252-1:2001 standards
Confirm that the voltage ratings meet or exceed what is required by your equipment AND the mFd ratings match both the fan motor and the compressor.
