With a Mr. Cool DIY five-zone mini split system, you now have a convenient, whole home solution that you can install yourself. The DIY-MULTI5-36HP230D-O is a DC inverter and variable speed compressor that gives you the efficiency you have come to expect from Mr. Cool. When connected as a 5 zone system, it offers a 23 SEER rating for energy efficiency. The Gold Fin condenser is built to resist long term corrosion, giving you one less thing to think about even if you live near the coast. The five-zone system allows you to connect up to 5 indoor units to a single outdoor compressor for comfort control in your home or even office space. The Mr. Cool DIY-MULTI5-36HP230 is a five-zone system can take up to 5 indoor wall units, totaling 48,000 BTUs. The system's output capacity is 34,000 BTUs but the system will allow for 48,000 BTU connected capacity. Mr. Cool DIY multi-zone are available in 3, 4, 5 and 6 zone configurations. Each configuration can be run with a single indoor unit as long as the minimum connectivity value for that system is met.
The DIY-MULTI5-36HP230D-O minimum connected value is 21,000 BTUs. A single indoor 24,000 or 36,000 BTU unit can be connected, though it is not recommended. If you choose an 36,000 BTU unit, keep in mind the total connected capacity of 48,000 BTUs when choosing your additional rooms and their needs. Three rooms would be the maximum allowable for this five-zone system when using a 36,000 BTU unit.
The Mr. Cool DIY Multi-Zone systems also feature low ambient functionality. At 5°F, this unit will cool with 100% cooling capacity, making the Mr. Cool DIY an ideal system for computer server rooms, greenhouses, and any other applications that require cooling all year. We do not recommend this unit as a primary heat source in northern climates.
Mr. Cool uses its own unique pre-charged Quick Connect Line Sets (NOT INCLUDED). Mr. Cool Line Sets are required for this system. A line set is required to connect each indoor unit to the outside unit. No vacuuming is needed, so therefore no HVAC installer! Line sizes are 1/4" x 3/8" for 6,000, 9000, and 12000, 1/4" x 1/2" 18000 BTU indoor units. You will need 3/8" x 5/8" line set for 24,000 and 35,000 BTU indoor unit. An adapter is included to accommodate this connection size. If you are using a 24K or greater capacity Air Handler, you will need to install the included line set adapter kit to the outside unit, before the line set can be connected. This requires you to replace both of the connected couplings that are on port A of the outside unit, so the air handler can be connected. Line sets are available in both 16' and 25' lengths. If longer lengths are required for you installation, a special coupler is also available to connect 2 or up to 3 lines together for a total of up to 75'. A Mr. Cool line set is required for each indoor unit (sold separately).
The combined linear length of all line-sets shall not exceed 221 ft. The linear length of any single line-set can not exceed 73 ft. The height differential between the outdoor unit and the highest indoor unit can not exceed 33 ft. The height differential between the lowest indoor unit and the highest indoor unit can not exceed 24 ft.
For the Five-Zone Mr. Cool DIY system, indoor wall units are available in six sizes to meet your installation needs. The indoor wall mounted models include:

For your installation needs, OuttaSight Ceiling Cassette units are available in four sizes for the multi-zone condensers. The models include:

These units can be combined in different combinations including up to 5 indoor unit installations to fulfill your room requirements. Units can be combined with a connected capacity of up to 48,000 BTUs. However, when all units are running simultaneously, the combined output will not exceed 36,000 BTUs. For example, you can connect three 12,000 BTU units for a total of 36,000 BTU output when all three units are running simultaneously. Four 12,000 BTU units can be connected for a total of 48,000 BTUs. However, if all four units are running at the same time, you will only get the maximum of 36,000 BTU output.
When sizing your outdoor condenser, the entire building load should be considered and then size the individual units based on the space you are trying to cool. Mr. Cool ductless mini splits heat and cool efficiently and can be programmed and controlled remotely with our Smartphone APP (Smart HVAC Module included), optional HVAC Ductless Mini-Stat, or included hand-held remote control. An example installation (below) may include a master bedroom, a living room, an office and a guest room / 2nd bedroom! But installing a mini split system is not limited to existing rooms or where ducting is not possible - a mini split is a great option for home additions.

Product Warranty
The unit comes standard with a 5 Year Parts/7 Year Compressor Warranty and is available with a Limited Lifetime Compressor Warranty with certain conditions/requirements.
The Limited Lifetime Compressor Warranty & the 7 Year Unit Replacement Warranty covers the unit ONLY in the event of compressor failure. In order to qualify for the Limited Lifetime Compressor Warranty, the unit must be registered at the web address (https://mrcool.com/warranty/) within 60 days of the installation date AND the original, registered owner must also enroll in the MrCool Care Program within 4 months from the installation date, which has an biannual fee to be covered by the owner. The MrCool Care Program is designed to provide the owner with a Do-It-Yourself cleaning kit to service/clean the unit at regular intervals (biannually) as preventative maintenance to help ensure the unit will continue to function properly throughout its lifespan.
