Is your hot water heater is more than 10 years old? It might be time to consider a new one. The lifespan of a conventional storage hot water heater is between 10 and 15 years. After all those years of service, sediment build-up and corrosion inside the tank can take their toll.
The GE Platinum GG50S10BXR RealMAX Series gas hot water heater features an 10 year tank and limited parts warranty. GE's gas water heaters in the RealMAX Series include features like Real Capacity which means their tanks hold what they say they will hold. For example the GG50S10BXR will hold 50 gallons of hot water. They also feature a best-in-class performance that delivers great First Hour Rating. With the GG50S10BXR you will get up to 77 gallons (Measured through DOE First Hour Rating) of hot water in the first hour of use. The 40,000 BTU burner allows for maximum performance to quickly aid in replenishing the hot water in your tank. Rest assured that this large 50 gallon hot water heater will provide sufficient hot water for the whole family. It is intended to be used for households between 3 and 5+ people. Temperature settings range from 45° to 160°.
The GE GG50S10BXR is considered a short tank in that it is 46-1/4" tall plus the connections. This tank requires clearances all around and will not fit in a crawl space! Ideally, locating it next to a drain would be helpful for tank maintenance, making it easier to drain. This water heater is for use with Natural Gas. It is not available for use with Liquid Propane.
GE's water heater construction includes an Anode Rod, designed to offer long lasting protection against corrosion, helping to extend the life of your water heater. Additionally, a glass-filled nylon drain valve will also provide long lasting results. With Ge's SmartShield ™ Safety System your system monitors the surrounding air and automatically shuts off the unit if abnormal temperatures are detected. Out with the old and in with the new - GE's water heaters are easy to install using standard water and gas connections and are probably more efficient in the long run than your old water heater. The unit also monitors and reports on the system status with LED status indicator light.
