Direct Vent furnaces are installed on outside walls so the they can be vented directly outside. The
DVC55IPX wall furnace sits flush on an outside wall with a 7 1/2 inch opening between studs for venting. Additionally, it can be installed recessed between standard wall studs, however the stud will need to be repositioned. A DVC-55-IPX is 16 inches wide and will not fit within standard 16 inch on-center studs.
Counterflow wall furnaces generally heat larger areas while using minimal floor space. Heat is distributed low on the furnace - floor level - allowing it to follow a normal course of rising, so you get even distribution of warmth throughout the room. An optional side outlet kit (10" boot assembly with register - SOK-1) allow heat to disperse from side of furnace cabinet for warm air into an adjoining room. This kit may be installed on either side of the furnace. An optional register (SOR-1) is also available and can be installed on one or both sides.
The DVC-55-IPX
does not include a thermostat. It is a 24V furnace and can be used with either a Wireless Remote Wall Thermostat (TRW) or a Wall Thermostat Millivolt Reed Switch (TMV) [each sold separately].
