Upgrading Your Friedrich VPAK

Friedrich’s VPAK Vert-I-Pak units have been a mainstay of multi-family and hospitality HVAC for years, installed in closets and utility spaces where a vertical single-package unit fits best. As earlier VPAK generations - the RTL-B, RTM, RTN, RTP, and RTQ revisions - age out of service, the current VHA…RCQ Vert-I-Pak line is the direct replacement, sliding into the same wall sleeve with no structural changes.

Every current replacement listed below is a heat pump model with electric backup heat. If your existing unit is an electric-heat-only VEA model, its replacement still upgrades you to heat pump heating - more efficient through most of the heating season, with the electric strip available as backup in colder conditions. The current RCQ generation also runs on R-32 refrigerant, meeting the latest environmental standards.

Replacements are matched by BTU class, voltage, and electric heat kW, so the new unit lines up with the capacity and electrical service the original was specified for.
