Quick kitchen clean-up is closer than you think. It is relatively easy to install a garbage disposal right under your sink! Two types of garbage disposals are available for consumers. These include continuous feed and batch feed disposals. Garbage disposers are installed under your sink and are either direct / hardwired, although there are also plug-in types available. With a continuous feed disposal, on/off operation works with a standard switch. Simply toss all of your scraps from vegetable prep to dirty dinner plates down the drain, turn on the water and the disposal and all of your scraps are ground up and washed away. A continuous feed disposer allows for the ability to add scraps while the disposer is running since the drain is not covered. Caution must be taken when adding scraps while your disposer is running. It is probably best to turn the unit off if you are adding additional scraps! The other type is a batch feeder disposal. With a batch feeder disposal, you would push all your scraps down the drain, cover it with the sink stopper (included with this type of disposer) and push down to activate the disposer. The cover/stopper is the power activator. It is pushed in place and turned to power on your disposal. The sink stopper can also be used to seal and drain the sink without starting the disposer. For either type of disposer, it is best not to dispose of bones, hard, large rinds and cobs (these can be cut into smaller pieces) and other fibrous items (celery strings, for example) down the drain. With a batch feeder style disposer, it is less likely that utensils accidently fall into the disposer while it is in operation.

The XOD1HPBF is a Batch Feed Disposal and features 1.0 horsepower motor, with 2850 RPMs. It features XO's Twist Lock Mount installation. A 3-bolt adapter (sold separately) is available to easily re-use previous installation hardware. It is also safe for use in homes that have septic systems. The XOD1HPBF has stainless steel components and offers a lifetime in-home limited warranty. The XOD1HPBF disposer requires an outlet for corded, plug-in operation. It is not a direct/hard wired disposer system. An optional Remote Air Switch (push button operation) is available (sold separately).
