The Daikin Oterra Series boasts R-32 low-GWP refrigerant. R-32 is up to 12% more efficient than R410A, resulting in lower Global Warming Potential (GWP). The lower the GWP, the better for the environment. The Oterra Series features an inverter compressor which better maintains the comfort level in your space. An inverter compressor helps to minimize temperature fluctuations by providing the ideal level of comfort continuously. Rather than a hard stop when the set temperature is achieved, the compressor is continually cycling up and down to maintain your set comfort level. With its variable speed compressor, the system modulates from 6,900 - 22,000 BTUs in the cooling mode and 5,800 - 28,000 BTUs in the heating mode, delivering enhanced comfort and improved energy efficiency. The wide capacity range makes it easier to size the right unit for your space. The Oterra Series will cool when outdoor temperatures are from 50°F up to 118°F and will heat when outdoor temperatures are between 5°F and 64°F. Extended cooling operation (to 5°F) can be achieved with some field adjustments and the addition of a wind baffle. 
 
The FTXF18BVJU9 in combination with the RXF18BVJU9 corresponding outdoor unit is an extremely efficient system. The 18,000 BTU system features excellent ratings including 21.0 SEER2, 9.6 HSPF2 and an EER2 of 12.
