With its heavy-duty one-piece cast iron motor housing with stainless construction, the Liberty Pump 287 is submersible effluent sump pump. The 287 is designed for STEP systems, mound systems and for liquid waste transfer. Its job is to pump "greywater" or "dirty" water. Dirty water includes laundry water, some limited septic fluids as well as other waste water. Effluent sump pumps are typically used to pump greywater from a septic tank to a leach field. It can also be used in a basement sump basin.

It has a quick-disconnect 10 foot power cord and Vertical Magnetic Float design (VMF). for sumps as small as 10" in diameter. It can handle solids up to 3/4" and has a 1-1/2" discharge. It features a 1/2 horsepower, oil-filled motor with thermal overload protection.

Once the float reaches the bottom of your sump basin, having drained the water, the pump switches off. This action occurs as needed until there is no water left in your sump pit. The 1/2 horsepower motor is oil-filled and thermally protected, yet offers quiet operation and is built to last.

Have no fear if dirt and debris are mixed into your water. The 287 is equipped to catch solids larger than 3/4" through its higher intake screen, reducing larger debris form entering the pump. This sump pump also has a 37' max. head feet, auto shut off. The 287 also has a high capacity flow rate. As an example, at 10 ft. head, this pump will direct up to 35 gallons a minute up and out of your space!

Performance Curve
At 13" high this sump pump sits at the bottom of your sump basin and will switch on when the water level reaches 9.5". It automatically turns off when the float is at 4" from the bottom of the basin.

The basin required for effluent applications must be sealed and vented to meet health and plumbing code requirements. A minimum diameter of 18" and depth of 24" is required for proper pump operation, but larger basins are preferred for longer pump cycles and increased float switch life. For ordinary ground water pumping applications, it is recommended that the sump basin diameter be a minimum of 14”. The 287 Vertical Magnetic Float (VMF) models may be used in a minimum 10” diameter sump; however, a larger diameter basin is preferred as it allows for a longer pump cycle and reduced float switch cycling. The depth of the basin should be a minimum of 18".

Keep you sump pump basin covered to prevent debris and other foreign objects from getting into the basin.
