The benefits of installing a mini split versus a typical window air may only come down to one or two things. The Mega Series offers inverter technology and a high wall unit. Unlike a typical air conditioner that powers off and on, in a system with inverter technology the variable speed compressor ramps up or down to maintain comfort levels. The wall unit is permanently installed high on a wall, indoors, eliminating window blockage and many offer heating operation as well as cooling. The LG LS180HEV2 features 18,000 BTUs cooling capacity and a 19,000 BTU heat pump, a SEER of 19 and an EER of 12. With 18,000 BTUs you can cool a relatively large sized room of about 800 sq. ft. Factors such as doors, windows and ceiling height as well as room use must be taken into consideration when calculating you BTU needs.
The Mega line features an easier installation procedure and offers a streamlined, low profile design. The indoor unit has electronically controlled louvers that work to help eliminate hot spots in the room and a dehumidifying mode which works to take out humidity without overcooling your room.
