Keep your driveways, parking lots and walkways clear of snow and ice all winter long with King's Snow Melt Cable. This 240 Volt cable comes in various lengths to meet your installation needs. The SC cable can be installed in/under concrete, asphalt, brick pavers or even tile. The SC Cable offers a custom in-concrete layout solution and can be installed to fit just about any outdoor installation application. The Snow Melt Cable is NOT for indoor use, industrial locations or areas with hazardous classifications. It is also NOT for use as pipe freeze protection or ice/snow melt on your roof or in your gutters.
The cable offers 12 watts per linear foot. Simply decide what your heat output requirements are, keeping in mind your weather conditions! Your design must take into consideration weather conditions and how critical it is to clear the heated area. As a point of reference, your design plan should be based on requiring approximately 50 watts per sq. ft. for moderate to heavy snowfall rates and 35 watts for light to moderate snowfall rates. This cable offers approximately 37 watts - 50 watts per square foot based on 3" or 4" spacing installation. Heating concrete, asphalt or pavers with the SC will keep your area free from snow build up and formation of ice. It is not meant to be laid under any combustible material.
The SC Cable includes:
- 20 Foot Cold Lead
- Twin Conductor
- Flouropolymer Insulation and Rugged PVC Jacked
- Emits Zero EMF (electromagnetic fields)
- Single Point Connection
- Cable CANNOT be cut to shorter lengths
This SC Cable is rated for 240 Volts, and is for use in both residential and commercial applications equipped with the appropriate voltage and amperage. Pay careful attention to the amps to make sure your controls, circuit breaker panel, and all wiring will have the proper capacity. Design circuit protection and wiring to handle 125 percent of heating cable load:
- 20 amp circuit for load up to 16 amps
- 30 amp circuit for load up to 24 amps
- 40 amp circuit for load up to 32 amps
- 50 amp circuit for load up to 40 amps
- 70 amp circuit for load up to 50 amps
When installing a snow melt cable system, it is important to locate the junction box(s) as close as possible to where the SC cable power leads will terminate, while making sure the cable (s) you select fill the area correctly. It is best to locate junction boxes on a wall indoors and within the distance of the power leads on the cable. SC cable comes standard with 20’ long power leads. If a junction box must be located outdoors, it is recommended to be installed above grade and to be properly listed for rain tight use outdoors. If it must be installed at or below grade, use properly listed watertight items and follow box manufacturer guidelines for protection and connection.
The SC Cable comes with a 10 year limited warranty.
