The CAPT4961C4 evaporator coil is used in conjunction with a furnace and split air conditioner or heat pump system. The Goodman CAPT4961C4 indoor evaporator coil is a cased coil with factory-installed thermal expansion valve (TXV) for cooling and heat pump applications. A TXV handles the rate the refrigerant flows into the evaporator, depending on conditions, for optimum performance. The CAPT4961C4 can be used with 48,000 (4 ton) to 60,000 (5 ton) BTU systems.
All Goodman coil feature an all-aluminum tube and fin coil construction. The use of single metal construction and a grooved tube help to deliver the most in heat transfer efficiency. Aluminum is also used to help combat potential corrosion. Like other Goodman products, the cabinet has a galvanized leather grain-embossed finish. Foil-faced insulation covers the casing inside to reduce cabinet condensation. The front of the cabinet has a split seam for easy access. Thermoplastic drain pans resist rust and the harmful effects of UV rays. They are constructed of DecaBDE-free thermoplastic and have a low water-retention design.
The CAPT series of evaporator coils can be set up for use in an upflow or downflow application. A downflow installation is typically used for attic installations, whereas an upflow installation is usually in a basement of the dwelling. The CAPT evaporator coils use R410A refrigerant.
- Nominal Cooling Tons: 4.0 - 5.0
- Service Valve Liquid Connection Size: 3/8"
- Service Valve Suction Connection Size: 7/8"
- Nominal Width for Gas Furnace: 21.0"
- Plenum Width: 20.0"
- Dimensions: 21.0"w x 21.0"d x 30.0"h
Cased evaporator coils are typically used for new comfort system installations including a new furnace. They must be paired with the condenser unit in a split system - with or without a heat pump, as well as match the furnace for a proper/exact fit. Uncased coils are typically used in replacement installations in which you are inserting the coil into pre-existing ductwork.
The evaporator coil cabinet is 21" deep to allow for easy attic installation. Professional installation by an HVAC tech is required. An HVAC contractor will have the skills required to ensure that your system functions to its highest ability.
Goodman evaporator coils are designed and assembled in America. Coils include a 10 year limited parts warranty. They are also AHRI Certified and ETL Listed.
