The CAPF4860D6 evaporator coil is used in conjunction with a furnace and split air conditioner or heat pump system. The Goodman CAPF series evaporator coils are cased coils and feature a flowrater valve. This type of valve has a fixed orifice and is constructed to deliver a fixed amount of refrigerant to the coil, regardless of conditions. Evaporator coils are for use split system air conditioner condensers as well as heat pump systems. As noted in the item code, it can be used with two different tonnages. The CAPF4860D6 can be used with 48,000 (4 ton) or 60,000 BTU (.5 ton) systems. The flowrater/orifice is for use with the larger tonnage - in this instance 5 tons. For use with a 4 ton system a different orifice/flowrater is required (unless a TXV is required instead).
All Goodman coils feature an all-aluminum tube and fin coil design. Goodman uses a single metal, aluminum, and a grooved tube help to deliver the utmost in heat transfer efficiency. Aluminum construction helps to hinder potential corrosion. Like other Goodman products, the cabinet has a galvanized leather grain-embossed finish. Foil-faced insulation covers the casing inside to reduce cabinet condensate. A split seam is located on the front of the cabinet for easy access. Thermoplastic drain pans resist rust and the fading effects of UV rays. They are constructed of DecaBDE-free thermoplastic and have a low water-retention design.
The CAPF series of evaporator coils can be set up for use in an upflow or downflow application. In an upflow installation you can take advantage of the natural flow the heat. In this type of setup, cold air enters at the bottom and hot air is exhausted out the top. The opposite is true in a downflow installation. Usually installed in attics, this installation takes cooler air into the top of the unit and released out the bottom or downward into the space. The CAPF evaporator coils require R410A or R22 refrigerant.
- Nominal Cooling Tons: 4.0 - 5.0
- Service Valve Liquid Connection Size: 3/8"
- Service Valve Suction Connection Size: 7/8"
- Nominal Width for Gas Furnace: 24.5"
- Plenum Width: 23.5"
- Dimensions: 24.5"w x 21.125"d x 30.0"h
Cased evaporator coils are typically used for new comfort system installations including a new furnace. They must be paired with the condenser unit in a split system - with or without a heat pump, as well as match the furnace for a proper/exact fit. Uncased coils are typically used in replacement installations in which you are inserting the coil into pre-existing ductwork.
The 21" deep cabinet is engineered to make installing the evaporator coil in a tight space easy.. Professional installation by an HVAC tech is required. An HVAC contractor will have the experience required to make sure your new system is up and running properly.
All Goodman products including evaporator coils are built in the USA. A 10 year limited parts warranty gives you peace of mind that these products are built to last. Coils are AHRI Certified and ETL Listed.
