The CAPF1824C6 evaporator coil is used in combination with a furnace and split air conditioner or heat pump system. The Goodman CAPF series coils are cased coils and feature a flowrater valve. This type of valve has a fixed orifice and is constructed to deliver a fixed amount of refrigerant to the coil, regardless of conditions. Evaporator coils are for use split system air conditioner condensers as well as heat pump systems. As noted in the item code, it can be used with two different tonnages. The CAPF1824C6 can be used with 18,000 (1.5 ton) or 24,000 BTU (2 ton) systems. The flowrater/orifice is for use with the larger tonnage - in this instance 2 tons. For use with a 1.5 ton system a different orifice/flowrater is required (unless a TXV is required instead).

All Goodman coils feature an all-aluminum tube and fin coil design. Goodman uses a single metal, aluminum, and a grooved tube help to deliver the utmost in heat transfer efficiency. Aluminum construction helps to hinder potential corrosion. Like other Goodman products, the cabinet has a galvanized leather grain-embossed finish. Foil-faced insulation covers the casing inside to reduce cabinet condensate. A split seam is located on the front of the cabinet for easy access. Drain pans feature a low water-retention design and are made of DecaBDE-free thermoplastic. The thermoplastic design resists rust and is UV-resistant.

The CAPF series of evaporator coils can be installed for use in an upflow or downflow application. In an upflow installation you can take advantage of the natural flow the heat. In this type of installation, cold air enters at the bottom and hot air is exhausted out the top. The opposite is true in a downflow installation. Usually installed in attics, this installation takes cooler air into the top of the unit and released out the bottom or downward into the space. The CAPF evaporator coils require either R410A or the newer R22 refrigerants.
