Evaporator coils are used in combination with split air conditioners - with or without heat pumps. The Goodman CAPT4961D4 indoor evaporator coil is a cased coil with factory-installed thermal expansion valve (TXV) for cooling and heat pump applications. A TXV regulates the rate the refrigerant flows into the evaporator, depending on conditions, for optimum performance. All Goodman coil feature an all-aluminum tube and fin coil construction. Goodman uses a single metal, aluminum, and a grooved tube help to provide the maximum in heat transfer efficiency. Aluminum construction helps to withstand potential corrosion.
Goodman coils match other components like furnaces with their galvanized leather grain-embossed finish. Each unit features foil-faced insulation on the interior of the casing to reduce cabinet moisture. A split seam is located on the front of the cabinet for easy access. Thermoplastic drain pans resist rust and the detrimental effects of UV rays. They are constructed of DecaBDE-free thermoplastic and have a shallow design.
The CAPT series of evaporator coils can be installed for use in an upflow or downflow application. A downflow installation is typically used for attic installations, whereas an upflow installation is mainly in a low point of the dwelling. The CAPT evaporator coils require R410A refrigerant.
