Evaporator coils are used in combination with split air conditioner systems - with or without heat pumps. The Goodman CAPF series units are cased coils and feature a flowrater valve. This type of valve has a fixed orifice and is designed to deliver a fixed amount of refrigerant to the coil, regardless of conditions. All Goodman coil feature an all-aluminum tube and fin coil design. Goodman uses a single metal, aluminum, and a grooved tube help to deliver the most in heat transfer efficiency. Aluminum construction helps to prevent potential corrosion.
The cabinet is finished in the same galvanized, leather grain-embossed finish as other Goodman system components. Foil-faced insulation covers the casing inside to reduce cabinet condensate. A split seam is located on the front of the cabinet for easy access. Drain pans feature a low water-retention design and are made of DecaBDE-free thermoplastic. The thermoplastic design resists rust and is UV-resistant.
The CAPF series of evaporator coils can be connected for use in an upflow or downflow application. In an upflow installation you can take advantage of the natural flow the heat. In this type of installation, cold air enters at the bottom and hot air is exhausted out the top. The opposite is true in a downflow installation. Usually installed in attics, this installation takes cooler air into the top of the unit and released out the bottom or downward into the space. The CAPF3743D6 evaporator coils require either R410A or the newer R22 refrigerants.
