Evaporator coils are used in combination with split AC systems - with or without heat pumps. The Goodman CAPF series units are cased coils and feature a flowrater valve. This type of valve has a fixed orifice and is designed to deliver a fixed amount of refrigerant to the coil, regardless of conditions. Included on all Goodman coils is the all-aluminum tube and fin coil construction. Goodman uses a single metal, aluminum, and a grooved tube help to give the maximum in heat transfer efficiency. Aluminum is also used to help prevent potential corrosion.
The cabinet is finished in the same galvanized, leather grain-embossed finish as other Goodman system components. Each unit features foil-faced insulation on the interior of the casing to reduce cabinet condensation. The front of the cabinet has a split seam for easy access. Thermoplastic drain pans resist rust and the detrimental effects of UV rays. They are constructed of DecaBDE-free thermoplastic and have a shallow design.
The CAPF series of evaporator coils can be installed for use in an upflow or downflow application. In an upflow installation you can take advantage of the natural flow the heat. In this type of setup, cold air enters at the bottom and hot air is exhausted out the top. The opposite is true in a downflow installation. Usually installed in attics, this installation takes cooler air into the top of the unit and released out the bottom or downward into the space. The CAPF3636B6 evaporator coils utilize either R410A or the newer R22 refrigerants.
