Evaporator coils are used in combination with split AC systems - with or without heat pumps. The Goodman CAPF series units are cased coils and feature a flowrater valve. This type of valve has a fixed orifice and is configured to deliver a fixed amount of refrigerant to the coil, regardless of conditions. All Goodman coil feature an all-aluminum tube and fin coil construction. The use of single metal construction and a grooved tube help to deliver the utmost in heat transfer efficiency. Aluminum construction helps to prevent potential corrosion.
Goodman coils match other components like furnaces with their galvanized leather grain-embossed finish. Foil-faced insulation covers the casing inside to reduce cabinet condensation. The front of the cabinet has a split seam for easy access. Thermoplastic drain pans resist rust and the fading effects of UV rays. They are constructed of DecaBDE-free thermoplastic and have a shallow design.
The CAPF series of evaporator coils can be connected for use in an upflow or downflow application. In an upflow installation you can take advantage of the natural flow the heat. In this type of setup, cold air enters at the bottom and hot air is exhausted out the top. The opposite is true in a downflow installation. Usually installed in attics, this installation takes cooler air into the top of the unit and released out the bottom or downward into the space. The CAPF3131B6 evaporator coils utilize either R410A or R22 refrigerants.
