Amana's new AH183E35AXAA has been completely redesigned featuring digital electronic controls and hand held IR remote control.  The AH183E35AXAA has 17,000 BTU/h of cooling and 15,700 BTU/h Heat Pump with 9,000 BTU/h of backup electric heat.

  • Ball-Bearing Fan Motors - that are reliable, start quickly and run quietly.
  • Multi-Directional Airflow - to allow for cooling or heating to any part of the room with automatic 2-way air swing feature.
  • Easy Access Slide-Out Filter - (left or right side pullout) – has a permanent polypropylene filter mesh that is easy to remove and clean.
  • Hydrophilic Coating on Evaporator and Condenser Coils - which allows better moisture removal, increased air flow, increased heat exchange, higher efficiencies and longer compressor life.
  • Condensate Drain Spouts -  to direct condensate drainage.

Excellent Choice February 8, 2012

I used 4 of these units to heat and cool a community room in a senior citizens complex.  They have been doing a great job.  They have proven to be very efficient.  The heat pump feature has been a huge cost savings this year with the mild winter.  Most days have been in the 40s and I don't think the electric back up heat has come on at all.

useless as a heat pump December 18, 2011

I bought to save money with heat pump. These units run mostly on the expensive back-up heat; and you have no control.The temp outside is 55F and I have tried everything, but it always goes back to heat strip. Don't let my mistake be yours.
